Promoting Artists Through Media Products

For my second group task I have decided to create a Prezi presentation in which I have focused on 2 of the groups main artist in greater detail. Researching the artists I have looked at specific media products such as albums, posters and merchandise in which the artists I have looked at are promoted through. Research into this will help me and the group into receiving and thorough insight as to how we will construct our album cover and poster to promote our music video. This presentation will also be uploaded onto the group blog as part of our research. Please take a few moments to watch my presentation below.

Next Groups Tasks

For our next groups task we have decided to look more thoroughly into our research and ideas into creating a successful music video. For our tasks one of our members will be looking upon one of their ideas into what we could potentially do for our groups video, another will be looking more depth into music videos into our chosen style and me and another member will be looking more depth into the 4 artists we chosen to look and research upon. Below I have placed an image of the groups next tasks.

Music Artist Research

I have now completed my VideoScribe presentation based upon the research of the groups selected artists. Within the video process I have stated the most important facts about the artists which highlights the successful outcomes within their music career. I will upload this video presentation on my group blog as well to present the groups research as a whole. Please take a few moments to watch my presentation below.

VideoScribe

Throughout looking and researching at the variety of software's in order to present my work in a creative manner I am now familiar with a new media platform named Videoscribe. I am not an expert with the software itself, however I have used the software once before in the past so it is not completely new to me. I have decided to use the software firstly to present my research within my first group task. I am in the middle of creating my presentation, although I have found using Video scribe is a difficult process. However I am overcoming these difficulties by exploring the software and looking at particular video tutorials on how to use basic tutorials on the software itself. Below I have decided to insert a video I have looked at based upon VideoScribe. the video shows an outline of what you can do with the software in order to present ideas and findings. In future blog posts I will post tutorial videos so that I can share my knowledge that I know on using the software. Using my knowledge of the is software will allow me and my group to improve my techniques using the multi media platforms.

Music Artists

Within my firsts tasks as a group, I have decided to lead the group for the first stages of our process into creating a music video. Within this process I have decided to construct some research into 4 famous and most successful artists within the groups chosen genre of indie/pop. This research will be based upon how successful the artists have been within their career. I believe that constructing research on particular artists will help us as a group to decide on which song choice as we will know which artists have been most successful and most popular which will help to reflect our personal choices to the artists songs and the groups decision.

Group Blog Set Up

Today me and my group in which I will work with to create a music video have decided to create a group blog. Within this group blog we will be equally processing and posting work that will contribute to our research and the process of creating a successful music video. We have already created an introduction for our first blog post for the group. Throughout posting our group blogs I will also be sharing the information and work produced on my individual blog posts to present my research and progression into creating a professional music video. Group Work Process

In today's lesson we have decided to expand our knowledge by creating a mind map of what our particular genre and style of music is. There are 4 members within my group which include me Charles Mossman, Kieran Winrow, Ian Pelgrave and Anthony Black. In regards to the class we are know as Group 1. From looking at the first mind map image below there is a mixture of different genres within my group. My particular genre of music is based upon indie/pop music however we all have different particular tastes and styles in music which include a mixture of genres including pop,indie, dance and rock.

We have also created another mind map stating our decisions on what particular genre that I and the other members in the group have decided to chose in regards to what genre our music video will be. After looking at the four styles of music genres we have narrowed our decision down by selecting our final style will be indie/pop music genre. We as a group have decided to pick this genre because every member in the group is very familiar with particular artists, music videos and songs within this particular category. Therefore we as a group will be able to construct our research into the genre more confidently and in an effective manner which will contribute into creating a successful music video.

In our chosen genre we have outlined the names and types of songs, music videos, artist, posters and album covers in which our final genre style is based upon. The groups ideas are stated on the second mind map image below.

Biggest Selling Artist Albums of 2013

For an independent blog post I have decided to conduct some research into most recent successful best selling albums of 2013 last year, within the indie/pop music genre I am researching into. Doing this has allowed me to develop an understanding as to what makes the artist and album covers to stand out and seductive to the target demographic of indie/pop fans.

Therefore by looking into most popular artists within my genre of 2014 so far such as Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars etc, I will be able to justify why reasons as to why I am focusing on the particular artists if they achieve being part of the biggest selling artist albums of 2014 and so a successful artists. As a result if my group do create a music video based on these aritsts within this genre, then it is likely to become a more popularised and noticeable music video product to our demographic of indie/pop music fans.

Possible Music Video Choices

In regards to our group decisions, we have been told to look at possible music video choices in which we can construct and process effectively. In my group there are 4 members and I have picked 2 music video choices in which I believe that the group could potentially construct. I have created a Prezi to present my work and explained why I have picked each music video with valid reasons.

Mood Board

Soon I will be placed in my class mates group to start the process of creating my own virtual music video. In a group discussion we have discussed our own personal taste in music by stating our famous songs, artists, bands to the particular genre style of our choice. Below I have created a small mood board which is related the genre of my choice indie/pop. Many of these famous figures within my mood board include Michael Jackson, Sam Smith, Mumford and Sons and more. Within my next blog post I will be creating a Prezi in which I will personally pick 2 music videos of my choice in which our group could possibly choose and construct. 

Improvement/Feeback Provided

Looking back at my comments and feedback given from other students, I was given some overall improvement to look upon. I was told that my lip sync was not fully in time with the visuals. Drawing form this I have commented on my blog post in which i have screenshot below, stating that I uploaded the practice version. I have now uploaded the correct version onto my blog which shows that my lip sync is mostly in time with the visuals. I was told that I could of put more of a personal touch to the process so that the video would have appeared to be more engaging for my audience to watch. From this I have taken their feedback on board so that when I come to create my own virtual music video I will know how to go about it in a more effective and professional manner.

Classmates Feedback on Lip Sync

Recently many of the classmates have been watching and reviewing everyones Individual lip syncing video task. I have already created a response to my lip sync by stating what where the strengths and weaknesses about the process and comparing this process compared to my first lip sync. Below I have taken an image of the notes/feedback that I created for some members of my classmates for their lip sync. I will be posting these comments on their blogs shortly.

Lip Sync/Green Screening Review

After the process of doing my individual lip syncing task I have decided to create a discussion video based on the process of creating my individual lip sync. I have discussed how I have used the green screening technique, compared my most recent lip sync to my first lip syncing task and stated how I could possible improve my Green screening technique if I decide to use green screening for my music video. Individual Lip Sync

I have finished editing my individual lip syncing video using the process of the Green screening technique. Overall I believe that this task was a success as I was able to use the Green screening editing technique effectively. Below I have inserted the video of my individual lip sync. I will be reviewing my lip syncing task and the process of making the video within the next blog post.

Individual Lip Sync Process

For my individual Lip Syncing task I have decided to choose Counting Stars Onerepublic. While Doing this process I used the green screening background to film my lip syncing process. After filming my lip sync I then imported the video onto a PC using a different editing software compared to iMovie. The editing software was named Sony Vegas and I wanted to use the software compared to iMovie so that I could provide myself with a thorough insight on how to use multi media editing platforms. I believe that using  different editing software's similar to Ezivid and iMovie, I am then able to improve my editing skills.

In comparison to my Green screening practice I have inserted screenshots to show the process of me using the software. However I realized that at the end of processing and converting my video to an MP4 format with Sony Vegas, my lip sync was not in time with the visuals. After doing this I then decided to insert the video into iMovie, where the software automatically put each frame in time with the visuals of the song. I will be uploading my individual lip syncing video within my next blog post.
